Color Scanography Shells and Butterflies
My years of relating to flowers opened my eyes even more to nature’s other wondrous expressions. As I photographed the butterflies, it was not unusual for me to cry out, “Oh my God!” as I looked closely at them. And who knew that their wings are so gorgeous on both sides? How could such dazzling flying creatures evolve from a caterpillar? It is no wonder they have become a symbol for transformation.
In my 40's I did some photographing for the architect, Louis Kahn. However magnificent his buildings were, I’m sure he would have agreed with me that nothing man-made could have equaled the magnificently jeweled structures, colors, and shapes of the domiciles called seashells. Architectural and sculptural metaphors certainly apply.
