-
How much does a Harold Feinstein photograph cost?
Harold Feinstein fine art prints are tier-priced. This means that prices are determined by the number of prints that remain in our inventory. Generally speaking the older prints, either vintage or printed later, will be more expensive than a contemporary editioned print, though this is not always the case. Please contact us for more information.
-
Do you sell estate prints?
Our color scanography images from Harold’s seven color books are available as estate prints in various sizes and come in editions of 15. His black and white images are only printed posthumously when all other signed prints are sold out or if the image was never before printed and signed by Harold and is on the list of those he had selected to be printed. Please contact us if you are interested in an estate print.
-
Did Harold print his own work?
Harold Feinstein was well known as a master printer. All vintage and printed later prints were created by Harold in the darkroom. Contemporary editioned prints were made by printers chosen and supervised by Harold, except in the case of a select number of special edition prints, which were produced by Harold in the darkroom in 2013. To inquire about the special editions, please contact us.
-
How do you ship fine art photographs?
Fine art prints shipped directly from our studio come in Premium Grade Print Paks or hand-made crates depending on the size of the purchase. We generally ship via Fed-EX priority. Framed prints are expertly crated and shipped directly at the framers and ship via UPS Air. Please contact us for special shipping handling needs.
-
What is the difference between vintage, printed later and contemporary prints?
Vintage prints are those that were printed close to the time when the photograph was taken. We use a five-year window in designating which prints are vintage. Printed Later means that the print was made with the original negative, but sometime outside of the five-year window. For example, many Feinstein images captured in the 1950’s were printed in the 60s, 70s, or 80s. They are just as beautiful in their quality, but don’t qualify as vintage. Contemporary editioned prints were printed after 2008 and were declared in editions of 20.
-
What is the process of purchasing a fine art print?
Please contact us if you would like to purchase a print. We will happily discuss availability in both older and contemporary prints. Once you have decided on a purchase we will invoice you for the amount. Payment can be made via check, wire transfer, or PayPal (with addidtional fees).
-
Will my print come with a certificate of authenticity?
Yes. All prints come with certificates of authenticity verifying provenance, titles and dates, catalogue numbers and the retail price at the time of purchase.

What does museum quality mean?
All prints are archival quality and are approved by Judith Thompson, Director of the Harold Feinstein Photography Trust and widow of Harold Feinstein. These posters are made on Canon Prograf printers using the latest Lucia Pro pigment inks, which meet the highest archival standards. They are printed on high quality Hahnemühle Photo Rag ® with no OBAs (optical brightening agents). These prints will last over 200 years framed under UV glass, and 300 years in dark storage, unlike Digital C prints which will fade much more quickly.
Precautions should nonetheless be taken to retain your poster’s depth of tone and contrast. We recommend that you do not hang it in direct sunlight.

How do these posters compare to Digital C prints?
C prints are legacy photographic materials from Kodak and Fuji that do not withstand the same archival standards of today’s modern inkjet papers and printers. Our Museum Quality Inkjet Prints are made on Canon Prograf printers using the latest Lucia Pro pigment inks.
Not all inks are created equal, and Canon Lucia pro inks meet the highest archival standards. When printing on a quality paper with no OBAs (optical brightening agents), like Hahnemühle Photo Rag®, these prints will last over 200 years framed under UV glass, and 300 years in dark storage.

We use hand-crafted black or white wooden frames (w: 0.6″x0.6″). All frames include UV acrylic, which comes with ~99% UV protection. We also use spacers to keep the protect the print by keeping it away from the acrylic. All products used in framing are archival quality. The posters will then be sealed using archival paper backing. They are wired, ready for hanging with wall-friendly footers.
-
What’s a spacer?
A spacer is a small plastic tab placed between the inside of the frame and the acrylic to keep the poster from touching the acrylic. They are not visible and provide much greater protection to the surface of the museum quality print than if they were framed without either spacers or matting.
