I was born in New York and have lived most of my life in the city. As a street photographer I’ve focused mostly on people. In 1989, I reconfigured several prisms into a lens mount that transformed New York City buildings into dramatic abstractions. At my opening of this work at the Urban Center Galleries in New York, a New York Times article quoted me saying this: “For me, New York is a miracle that we’ve forgotten, a place we’ve stopped looking at with awe. But it’s really like the Grand Canyon that we’ve made.”
