What does museum quality mean?
All prints are archival quality and are approved by Judith Thompson, Director of the Harold Feinstein Photography Trust and widow of Harold Feinstein. These posters are made on Canon Prograf printers using the latest Lucia Pro pigment inks, which meet the highest archival standards. They are printed on high quality Hahnemühle Photo Rag ® with no OBAs (optical brightening agents). These prints will last over 200 years framed under UV glass, and 300 years in dark storage, unlike Digital C prints which will fade much more quickly.
Precautions should nonetheless be taken to retain your poster’s depth of tone and contrast. We recommend that you do not hang it in direct sunlight.

How do these posters compare to Digital C prints?
C prints are legacy photographic materials from Kodak and Fuji that do not withstand the same archival standards of today’s modern inkjet papers and printers. Our Museum Quality Inkjet Prints are made on Canon Prograf printers using the latest Lucia Pro pigment inks.
Not all inks are created equal, and Canon Lucia pro inks meet the highest archival standards. When printing on a quality paper with no OBAs (optical brightening agents), like Hahnemühle Photo Rag®, these prints will last over 200 years framed under UV glass, and 300 years in dark storage.
Digital C prints can’t compare to in archivability over time. For more information on archivability please refer to this chart on Print Permanence.

What material is used for frames?
We use hand-crafted black or white wooden frames (w: 0.6″x0.6″). All frames include UV acrylic, which comes with ~99% UV protection. We also use spacers to keep the protect the print by keeping it away from the acrylic. All products used in framing are archival quality. The posters will then be sealed using archival paper backing. They are wired, ready for hanging with wall-friendly footers.
-
What’s a spacer?
A spacer is a small plastic tab placed between the inside of the frame and the acrylic to keep the poster from touching the acrylic. They are not visible and provide much greater protection to the surface of the museum quality print than if they were framed without either spacers or matting.
